Craig Ward, President


Craig Ward has 28 years of experience in the industry, working on a diverse group of projects.

With an emphasis on feasibility analysis and early stage project development, Mr. Ward has managed and designed projects from local to regional scale. These include community and planned residential, retail, commercial, industrial, institutional, and mixed-use development, along with public utilities, roadways, parks, schools, and other civic works. As his career progressed, he began taking on leadership roles in the broader aspects of development, community growth, government services, and economic development.

Craig is also committed to corporate citizenship. He has served as President of the Bel Air Downtown Alliance. He is currently serving the Board of the Harford Business Roundtable for Education, the Board of the Harford Leadership Academy, the Presidents Advisory Council of the Greater Baltimore Committee, and various roles with the John Carroll School, Harford Community College, and the Harford County Government.

Tory Pierce, Vice President


Tory Pierce, who has been with Frederick Ward for over 25 years, is a licensed professional engineer. He serves the local Harford, Baltimore, and Cecil County communities, providing expertise and a strong focus on details. He specializes in development design and procession, highway and utility infrastructure design, feasibility studies, and expert testimony.

He is a part of multiple organizations, including the Society of American Military Engineers, the National Association of Home Builders, & the Urban Land Institute, among others.

John V. Mettee, III, Vice President


John Mettee, Professional Surveyor and Chief of Surveys, directs both field and office surveying operations for Frederick Ward Associates. As a dedicated professional, Mr. Mettee has a unique level of expertise due to his experience in field location and verification of utilities, roadway, commercial, and residential sites, and in-depth research for easements and property boundaries.

John is part of multiple organizations including the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors, the American Congress of Surveying and Mapping, the Maryland Society Surveyors, New Jersey Society of Professional Land Surveyors, the National Society of Professional Surveyors, the American Association for Geodetic Surveying, Bel Air Rotary Club, and the Society of American Military Engineers.

He also serves as a board member for the Army Alliance, Morning Brook Farms Homeowners Association, and the Maryland State Licensing Board for Professional Land Surveyors.

Ted M. Jasinski, Director of Architecture


Ted has over 33 years of experience in the architecture industry. He has a wide range of experience, holding positions like chief draftsman, staff architect, associate and is currently with FWA as the Director of Architecture. Aside from his range of experience, he has worked on a variety of projects, including golf clubhouses, assistant living facilities, educational facilities, commercial buildings, and more.

Ted specializes in senior living, master planning, and code review and interpretation. He is part of the American Institute of Architects and the US Green Building Council.

Ed Steere, Director of Business Development


Ed Steere has a broad professional background of more than 20 years in land planning, development and real estate.   As a certified planner, his experience includes non-residential and residential development projects, development feasibility, market feasibility, land acquisition, master planning, legislative drafting and implementation/enforcement. He also participates on public task forces addressing transportation, infrastructure, land use, and community relations.

Ed is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, American Planning Association, Urban Land Institute, Lambda Alpha International, Greater Baltimore Committee, Society of American Military Engineers, the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, and others.  In his spare time Ed is active in the Boy Scouts, community service and anything outdoors.

Chuck Cooper, Project Manager


Chuck has over 15 years experience in architecture, with a diverse portfolio of project types and sizes. He has worked on projects ranging from hotels and eco-resorts to single family homes and fire stations. Since 2006, his focus has been to become fully knowledgeable about sustainable design strategies, implementing and incorporating these strategies on every project he can.

In addition to being the Steering Committee Chair at the USGBC Maryland Chapter’s Northern Chesapeake Branch & a member of the USGBC Maryland’s Advocacy, Green Schools, and Branch Committees, he is also involved with the Construction Specifications Institute, Habitat for Humanity, American Institute of Architects, and other professional and community organizations.

Mike Grabenstein, Project Architect


Mike has been with Frederick Ward Associates’ Architecture Studio for over eight years working on projects ranging from office buildings to libraries to community centers. He advocates sustainability, efficiency, and quality throughout the design and construction process.

He serves as the Communications Chair for USGBC Maryland’s Northern Chesapeake Branch, volunteers with Habitat for Humanity, and is a member of the AIA Baltimore Chapter and BIM professional groups.

Steve Kohler, IT Manager


Steve Kohler has been with Frederick Ward Associates for thirty years, and is a registered professional engineer and a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE). Steve is focused primarily on IT management these days, although he has past experience in civil engineering design focused on water resources and storm water management.

Steve is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Harford Information Technology Network. He is also involved in the local community as a volunteer at The Sharing Table.
